Stealing and fraud investigation in South Brisbane, QLD

Detectives are appealing for public help to identify a man and woman as part of investigations into the theft of property stolen off a woman injured after falling from an e-scooter in South Brisbane on New Year’s Eve.

Around 10.20pm, the 22-year-old was sitting on the footpath adjacent to the southern pedestrian ramp at the southern side of the Kurilpa Bridge when a man approached, appearing to offer assistance.

Instead, the man picked up a number of items including a mobile phone and bank cards from the woman’s purse before fleeing north over the Kurilpa Bridge where he can be seen passing the items to a woman (pictured).

The woman’s cards were used fraudulently to purchase items from a convenience store on George Street in Brisbane shortly before 10.30pm then again at another store on Leichardt St in Spring Hill at 11pm.

The cards were then used again at a fast food restaurant in Cavill Avenue at Surfers Paradise around 12.40am.

Investigators appalled by the behaviour of the man and woman, are asking anyone who recognises the pair or has any information able to assist, to contact police.
