Stockinbingal to Parkes turnout testing completed

Inland Rail supplier Vossloh Cogifer Australia assembled and tested the 1:18.5 Standard Gauge Swing Nose Crossing (SNX) turnout design – the first of its type to be installed on the Inland Rail program – to ensure it was compliant with design requirements.

Completing this milestone allows Vossloh to continue manufacturing a second turnout, both of which are planned for installation at the Daroobalgie crossing loop during the Australian Rail Track Corporation ‘super possession’ in March 2024.

The Stockinbingal to Parkes project area spans from just north of the rail junction in Stockinbingal to just south of Goobang Junction in Parkes, New South Wales.

The 170km project includes upgrades along the existing rail corridor and building new supporting infrastructure to provide sufficient height and width to support the safe running of double-stacked freight trains.

In July 2023, Martinus Rail was awarded a $403.5m contract to design and construct enhancement works on the Stockinbingal to Parkes and Albury to Illabo sections of Inland Rail. Martinus Rail are seeking registrations of interest from capable and competitive suppliers and subcontractors to supply to the project.
