A tropical low is positioned about the central Top End, embedded within a trough extending into the Carpentaria. The low is expected to remain slow-moving over the next 24 hours, with broad areas of heavy rainfall on its northwestern flank.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for parts of the Daly, far western Arnhem and northwestern parts of the Katherine region. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 90 to 140 mm are possible during the day today, becoming likely this evening.
There is high degree of uncertainty regarding the progression of heavy rainfall over the Top End into Saturday. However, the most likely outcome is a slow westwards progression of areas of heavy rainfall tonight, and a gradual easing through Saturday.

111 mm of rainfall was recorded at Birdie Creek in the 6 hours to 7:16 am.
104 mm of rainfall was recorded at Edith Falls Ridge in the 6 hours to 7:21 am.
