Strike Force detectives renew appeal into fatal Darlinghurst brawl, NSW

Detectives investigating the fatal alleged assault of a man in Darlinghurst earlier this month are renewing an appeal to locate those involved, as well as witnesses to the incident.

Emergency services were called to Oxford Street just after 12.30am on Saturday 9 April 2022, following reports of a brawl.

Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command attended and located a 23-year-old man unconscious with serious injuries.

He was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he died on Monday 11 April 2022.

Detectives from Surry Hills Police Area Command established Strike Force Nadzah to investigate the man’s death.

Following inquiries, three men were arrested and charged with affray. They remain before the courts.

As inquiries continue, strike force detectives are appealing for assistance to identify a man they believe can assist with their investigation.

At the time he was wearing khaki 3/4 pants, no shirt, white shoes and has dark hair.

It’s not believed the man was involved in the assault of the 23-year-old; however, he was with the group involved in the brawl and can assist police with information.

Detectives are also appealing for assistance to identify and locate a number of witnesses in the area.

In particular, detectives would like to speak with a group who was seen walking across a pedestrian crossing, as well as a man and woman sitting on a bench next to where the brawl took place.
