Strike Force Raptor dismantle prohibited firearms syndicate, NSW

The Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor have laid more than 25 additional charges following an investigation into a criminal group allegedly supplying prohibited drugs and firearms across NSW.

In June 2018, investigators from the Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor commenced an investigation into a criminal group involved in the alleged supply of prohibited drugs and firearms across the state.

During the investigation, police seized a total of 31 firearms, including six handguns and 26 long-arms – such as a M1 Carbine, two SKS semi-automatic rifles, a military self-loading rifle, a Mossberg pump-action and a Ruger semi-automatic rifle – knives, knuckle dusters, ammunition, 20kg of silver, large commercial and commercial quantities of GBL and MDMA, a tablet press and prescription drugs.

Four men – aged 22, 33, 44 and 65 – have previously been charged. They remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, the 33-year-old man was arrested at Goulburn Police Station, just after 9.30am on Tuesday (17 December 2019).

He was charged with 26 additional offences, including supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), supply firearm to person unauthorised to possess it (x6), sell prohibited weapon to person without permit (x5), supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity x2), supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity x2), supply pistol to person unauthorised to possess it (x5), supply prohibited drug (small quantity), supply prohibited firearm to unauthorised person, supply, give ammunition to person not authorised, unlawfully sell firearms 3 times or more within 12 months, and contravene section 23A on 3 or more separate occasions.

Police will allege in court that the man supplied nine firearms, prohibited weapons, ammunition, 6L of GBL and 1000 MDMA pills between January and May 2019.

The man was remanded in custody to appear at Moss Vale Local Court on Wednesday 5 February 2020.

Investigations are continuing.
