Strike Force Raptor South charges high-ranking OMCG member over assault, NSW

A high-ranking member of the Comancheros outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) has been charged over an alleged assault at an Illawarra hotel last weekend.

About 4pm on Sunday 21 July 2019, a 51-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a 29-year-old man in the bar area of a licenced premises in Shell Cove. The men were not known to each other.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended before taking the injured man to Shellharbour Hospital for injuries to his face and nose.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District and Strike Force Raptor South also attended the location; however, the group had left the area.

An investigation was subsequently launched by the Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor South.

Following inquiries, officers from Raptor South and Lake Illawarra Target Action Group executed a search warrant at a home in Shell Cove about 8am today (Wednesday 24 July 2018).

Several OMCG items including clothing, patches and rings were located at the scene.

A 29-year-old man, who is a high-ranking member of the Comancheros OMCG, was arrested at the home and taken to Oak Flats Police Station.

He was charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and participate in criminal group.

The man was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday 24 July 2019).
