Strike Force Vulcan detectives have charged a man in relation to a small fire on Hayman Road in Como on Wednesday, 11 December 2019.
It is alleged between 4am and 4.25am, the man was walking along Hayman Road from the direction of Blamey Place when he ignited two spots within 100 metres of each other.
It is further alleged as a result of igniting the bush, fires developed that resulted in the Department of Fire and Emergency Services attending and extinguishing the fires. The fires were ignited in close proximity to residential housing and without the fires being suppressed ,could have threatened houses.
The 21-year-old man from High Wycombe has been charged with:-
• Two counts of Wilfully Light or Cause to be Lit a Fire Likely to Injure or Damage.
He is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 30 January 2020.
This offence carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.
