Strike Force Vulcan arrest – Fires in Cockburn Central and Bibra Lake

Strike Force Vulcan officers have charged a 56-year-old woman as a result of their investigation into two scrub fires on Saturday, 20 January 2024.

It will be alleged about 6.50pm the woman set alight bushland on Pirouette Road in Cockburn Central. Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) officers attended the scene a short time later and extinguished the fire.

It will be further alleged about 7.40pm the same day the woman drove to Sudlow Road in Bibra Lake where she set alight to bushland. Once again DFEs attended and extinguished the fire.

Strike Force Vulcan officers arrested the 56-year-old Aubin Grove woman on Wednesday, 24 January 2024 and she is next due to appear before the Fremantle Magistrates Court on 15 February 2024 charged with:

• Two counts of Wilfully light or cause to be lit a fire likely to injure or damage.

This offence carries a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment.
