Strike Force Xidil investigators release CCTV vision following ram raid in Alexandria

Detectives have released CCTV footage as they continue to investigate a ram raid at a clothing business in Sydney’s inner-west.

About 5.30am yesterday (Sunday 24 February 2019), police were called to business in Alexandria, following reports a Ford Mondeo station wagon had reversed through the front door.

Two men entered the store and stole a large quantity of clothing before leaving in the vehicle.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad commenced an investigation into the incident, under Strike Force Xidil.

Investigators believe the Ford wagon may have been stolen during a carjacking, in which a 40-year-old man was threatened with a firearm, about 5.15am on Flora Street, Erskineville.

Strike Force Xidil investigators have released CCTV vision of two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

In the CCTV footage, the two men are depicted as being of a solid build and wearing dark clothing.

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Daniel Doherty, encouraged any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

“One of our greatest assets is the community – the information you provide on a daily basis is invaluable in our pursuit to keep you safe,” Det Supt Doherty said.

“Strike Force Xidil detectives are urging online shoppers to be cautious; if you see this style of clothing sold on other websites and believe it may be suspicious, we want to hear from you.”

Anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Xidil investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
