Sarah Courtney,Liberal Member for Bass
As a Minister in the Gutwein majority Liberal Government, I am proud to be retaining the dynamic portfolios of Health and Women, and taking responsibility for the important areas of Small Business, Hospitality and Events, and the new portfolio of Strategic Growth.
As Minister for Small Business, Hospitality and Events I look forward to working with this critical sector and the many businesses which help power our economy, providing thousands of jobs for Tasmanians.
I will also continue to work to enable Tasmanian women to fully participate in our economic, social, political and community life as Minister for Women.
As outlined by our Premier Peter Gutwein, we must continue to not only support growth, but to share the benefits right across Tasmania, which will be driven by the important new portfolio of Strategic Growth.
While our economy is the fastest growing in the nation, with 20,000 jobs created since we came to Government, we know there is more to do. That is why we will work to unlock the potential of our regions with the right pathways and programs in place, to create even more jobs, so local people have the best chance to live and work in the place they call home.
Essential services are the backbone of these communities, and I am pleased to continue as Tasmania’s Minister for Health.
We’ve invested heavily in health over the past six years, with many more beds in our hospitals, new services and more than 1,150 additional doctors, nurses and support staff, and the Royal Hobart Hospital Redevelopment opening this year.
I am committed to addressing the challenges we face in health, working closely with the frontline staff across our health system. This includes improving and enhancing care in our communities, closer to where Tasmanians live and work. We must focus on what is better for patients and families, and frees up capacity in our hospitals for those who need it most.
The Gutwein majority Liberal Government will continue to drive the country’s fastest growing economy forward and invest heavily in essential services. We have come along way over the last six years, there is much more do and I believe our State’s best days are ahead of us.
And across my portfolios I am absolutely dedicated and committed to doing all I can to improving the lives of Tasmanians.
