Structure fire in Alice Springs 18 October

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service attended a structure fire in Alice Springs yesterday.

Shortly before 4:00pm, crews were alerted to the fire on Johannsen Street. Six firefighters and two appliances arrived on scene and observed a small garden shed and furniture at the rear of the house fully engulfed.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus attacked the flames and prevented it from spreading to an adjacent house, bringing it under control and remaining on scene for some time to ensure the fire and the contents of the shed were fully extinguished. The adjacent house sustained minor smoke damage.

The occupants had been evacuated and were thankfully unharmed.

The fire has been deemed to be non-suspicious but serves as a timely reminder that there is a lot you can do to protect your family and your home from fire.
