Structure Fire in Alice Springs 26 September

The Northern Territory Police and Fire Rescue Service attended a structure fire on Lyndavale Drive yesterday.

At 1:20pm, the Joint Emergency Call Centre received a report that a group of offenders had unlawfully entered the empty residence and allegedly started a fire.

Police, Firefighters and St John Ambulance attended, with Firefighters containing the blaze and ventilating the smoke. Extensive damage occurred throughout the interior of the residence.

A crime scene was declared and a fire investigator will attend the scene today.

The Alice Springs Criminal Investigation Branch have identified two males, aged 8 and 11, who they believe were involved at various stages of the offending. Further investigations are underway to identify the remaining offenders.

Senior Sergeant Adam Donaldson said, “Thankfully the residence was empty at the time and no injuries occurred as a result of the blaze.

“Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in Larapinta in the lead up to the fire is urged to contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference 10127083.
