Investigations are underway to determine the cause of a structure fire that has affected two adjoining commercial properties on Bishop Street and Jolly Street, Woolner this evening.
The fire was reported to Triple Zero (000) around 7.20pm with firefighters from Darwin, Marrara and Berrimah Fire Stations responding soon after. Police and St John Ambulance were also on scene.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer Joshua Fischer said, “On arrival, there were flames showing from the roof of the premises. First arriving firefighters gained access and commenced firefighting operations including the use of the Bronto aerial appliance to attack the fire from above.
“Firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading to other adjoining properties.
“The premises sustained significant damage and investigators are now looking into the cause of the fire.”
