The Central Goldfields Art Gallery’s popular Community Art and Craft exhibition is returning in 2019 and submissions are now open.

The annual exhibition, to go on show from 2 November to 24 November, is an opportunity for local community members to exhibit their artwork at the Central Goldfields Art Gallery.

Any type of art and/or craft is able to be entered into the exhibition and all residents in the Central Goldfields Shire and the Avoca region are welcome to take part.

Due to the popularity of visitors voting for their favourite artwork or craft, this year the Central Goldfields Art Gallery will award $100 to the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

The non-acquisitive prize winner will be revealed at the end of the exhibition on Sunday 24 November.

In an exciting addition to the exhibition, the Maryborough Craft Shop is sponsoring prizes for primary and secondary school students’ artwork with $50 to be awarded to the first prize winner, $30 to second place and $20 to third place.

All students attending a school within the Central Goldfields Shire are eligible for entry.

Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said the Community Art and Craft exhibition is the perfect opportunity for talented community members to showcase their work.

“The Community Art and Craft Exhibition is the perfect way to celebrate our local artists and those just new to their craft and it is a golden opportunity for them to display their work in a professional art setting.

“We have many talented community members in our Shire and I look forward to seeing many entries.”

Contributions from all ages are encouraged and any type of art and craft is welcome to be entered, while final selection is at the discretion of the Gallery.

Art and craft work may be woodwork, spinning and weaving, knitting, photography, painting, drawing, quilts or any other form of artistic medium.

Entry forms are available from www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/exhibitionsandevents or from the Central Goldfields Art Gallery between Thursday and Sunday, 10am to 4pm.

Submissions close on Sunday 27 October.
