Suburban Rail Loop to start in Cheltenham

Bayside welcomes the Victorian Government’s announcement of funding for the first stage of the Suburban Rail Loop and confirmation that the new railway line will begin in Cheltenham, under Sir William Fry Reserve on Nepean Hwy.

Access to sustainable, safe and reliable public transport is an important priority for Bayside residents and we are committed to advocating on our community’s behalf for improved public transport.

We will be working with the Suburban Rail Loop authority and our colleagues at Kingston City Council to ensure great transport and integrated land use outcomes for our residents from the new rail line infrastructure investment.

This includes advocating for strong connectivity between the new railway loop, Frankston and Sandringham lines plus improved pedestrian, cycling and bus links from Bayside to the new station.

If you would like to provide your feedback on the proposed station location and what is special about the Cheltenham area in particular to be considered in planning the new station, go to suburbanrailloop.vic.gov.au/Have-Your-Say
