A summary of what our community’s visions and aspirations for the next 10 years is now available to view and demonstrates the high level of feedback and direction council has received for the review of the Community Plan.
Last year Armidale Regional Council embarked on a month-long consultation across the local government area seeking community ideas and input into shaping our region now and into the future.
All Councils in NSW are governed by a suite of strategic documents. At the very top of these sits the Community Plan (also known as the Community Strategic Plan). The Community Plan is placed at the centre of a suite of integrated plans known as the Integrated Planning and Report Framework that sets out visions, goals and strategic actions to achieve them. It involves a reporting structure to communicate progress to council and the community as well as a structured timeline for review.
Armidale Regional Council Mayor Sam Coupland said this broad-reaching document is the community’s plan that tells council what our region wants prioritised during the term of the current council and for the next 10 years.
“Our community is very engaged and we are thankful for the insightful feedback we have received which means we can now formulate a draft Community Plan that is driven by what our community is saying is important to them,” said Mayor Coupland
“Our role now as council is to review the feedback and devise a set of strategies and actions that will realise those community aspirations against what is realistically achievable given the financial constraints all councils find themselves in.
However this is a long term plan and we can achieve great things if we have high aspirations. The sky really is the limit if we work hard and work together.”
