The Territory’s fastest event, the betr Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round, attracted more than 42,000 attendances over the weekend, proving its worth as one of Australia’s favourite Supercars events, and one of the Top End’s favourite Major Events.
Fans enjoyed three days of non-stop action from the Supercars, Australian Superbikes, Porsche Carrera Cup, Aussie Racing Cars, Combined Sedans and Nitro Up North drag racing, in one of the country’s most unique destinations, on Larrakia land.
The 2023 event included the biggest Friday ever, with almost 11,000 people onsite. The largest Friday crowd previously was around 10,000 in 2021. Friday also saw the biggest cohort of Students on Track attendees, with almost 1000 students taking advantage of the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the track and meet some of the drivers.
The action at the iconic Hidden Valley track included the spectacle of Cam Waters’ Mustang bursting into flames at the start of the opening Race 13 on Saturday. Mark Winterbottom went on to win, marking his first victory since 2016. Broc Feeney won Race 14, while Jack Le Brocq took out Race 15 (no one managed to secure the elusive Darwin Triple Crown).
Troy Herfoss did the Sunday double in the Australian Superbikes, and Dale Wood won Round 2 of the Porsche Carrera Cup. Cody Brewczynsk took out both the round and the finale of the Aussie Racing Cars Super Series. Damien Harris and the Rapisarda Autosport International team were crowned champions of the 2023 Australian Top Fuel Championship, which featured the fastest cars on earth battling it out against a stunning Top End sunset.
