The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) and The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust (The Trust) have joined forces to provide an exciting opportunity for two aspiring agricultural leaders.
Applications are now open for the 2020 round of Churchill Fellowships, a unique award that supports people from diverse backgrounds to explore best practice anywhere in the world for up to eight weeks.
Over 100 Fellowships are awarded each year, however in 2020 two recipients interested in agriculture will also receive additional mentoring, networking and development opportunities from the NFF as a result of this exciting collaboration.
NFF Chief Executive Officer, Tony Mahar, said the collaboration between the two organisations reflected the core values of unity, sustainability and innovation that underpin the NFF’s 2030 Roadmap.
“Implementing the bold actions outlined in the Roadmap requires significant investment in our current and future leaders, ensuring they have the opportunity to explore and develop new ideas that are required to propel our industry forward,” Mr Mahar said.
“This collaboration will allow the selected Fellows to refine their project concepts with the assistance of an industry mentor and share their findings at key industry leadership events.”
Mr Mahar encouraged applicants interested in being considered for this specific Fellowship to review the Roadmap and 2019 Report Card when developing their project concept.
Adam Davey, Chief Executive Officer of The Trust, welcomed this new partnership with the NFF.
“The opportunity for our Fellows to have the support of and engage with Australian industry leaders is highly valuable both prior to and when returning from their Fellowship journeys,” Mr Davey said.
“We hope this collaboration with the NFF will encourage those working in this sector to put forward their best ideas about how a Fellowship will help them have a positive impact on Australian agriculture.”
Mr Davey said a national roadshow of information sessions for people interested in applying will visit almost 30 locations this year until mid-March.
The free sessions will provide advice on how to put together a successful application, with the opportunity to hear individual Fellows talk about their experiences.
