Superfood for Superheroes corporate solidarity initiative launches amid COVID-19

The Superfood for Superheroes initiative kicked off yesterday, delivering 645 gourmet ‘Thank You’ meals’ to ‘Gold Coast Health’ workers but is looking to distribute to anyone and everyone forming part of our frontline against COVID-19, regardless of industry or vocation.

Overnight, the business-community initiative received donations that will go toward feeding a further 388 frontline workers, but those behind the initiative are calling corporates to arms to power more messages of reinforcement.

Founder of the initiative, former nurse and Director of Superannuation Advice Australia, Noel Shephard, says the success of the Superfood for Superheroes initiative now depends upon the ability of the corporate community to join forces for the greater good.

“We’ve been working around the clock to bring this initiative to life on behalf of the community, and will continue to fly the flag for our superheroes, but the extent of our impact, the number of lives we are able to touch, lays in the hands of the corporate community as a whole,” said Shephard.

“We’ve all been affected in some way, but at a time like this, it is the responsibility of those of us still in a position to do so to dig deep, form a united front and reinforce our community at a time when collaboration is needed most and messages of positivity can go such a long way,” he said.

“We couldn’t be making it any more simple for businesses to do their bit. We’re quite simply calling corporates to donate what they can, along with a message of support, and we’ll take care of the rest. 100% of donations made will go directly to ‘Thank You’ meals and the Super Advice Australia Community Fund will continue to take care of additional expenses.”

Shephard claims we have the power to touch the lives of people from all walks of life across the country, including businesses involved in preparing and distributing the food.

“As far as we’re concerned, we’re just getting started. We’re hoping to fuel a chain reaction and impact the lives of people far beyond those who directly receive a gourmet message of thanks. Look at Craig Fox from Wine & Dine’m for example; almost overnight his industry collapsed and his team was reduced from 64 to 3. Yesterday, he was able to invite staff back into his kitchen to help prepare meals as part of the supply chain required to power the Superfood for Superheroes initiative,” said Shephard.

“That only needs to be the tip of the iceberg.”

“From medical dispatch teams, security networks, cleaning units and police patrols, to researchers, aged care and mental health workers and beyond – we won’t be forgetting anyone.”

‘Superfood for Superheroes’ is calling on businesses from far and wide to join in by donating funds via ‘Go Fund Me’, with 100% of the funds going to food, provided at cost price. Along with their donation, they will be given the opportunity to craft a personal thank you that will be printed onto the labels of each of the meals that they fund.

Superannuation Advice Australia have shown that through innovation, businesses can have a lasting positive impact on the lives of customers and the community as a whole. They are calling on more corporations to show their support.

‘Superfood for Superheroes’ is an initiative powered by Superannuation Advice Australia’s charitable arm, the ‘Super Advice Australia Community Fund’. The fund was founded to enable the business to give back to the community at times like this and to reinforce their businesses core message around the importance of supporting the future of every Australian.
