Support Act to provide crisis relief

Support Act will receive $10 million to provide immediate crisis relief to musicians, crew and live performance workers hit hard by COVID-19.

The shutdown of gigs, music festivals and live performances worldwide has had a devastating impact on Australian performing artists with their income being reduced to zero almost overnight.

Support Act is a charity which delivers crisis relief services to musicians, artists, technicians, sound engineers, roadies, and other support workers in the live performance industry who have lost employment or are experiencing financial hardship.

The additional funding is part of a targeted federal government support package for the arts, enabling Support Act to provide extra assistance in areas like skills development, repairing or replacing musical instruments and maintaining equipment.

The relief package complements existing whole-of-economy support and assistance measures already in place for the arts sector.
