A man has died after being pulled from the water in the state’s north yesterday.
About 12.30pm (Saturday 19 September 2026), emergency services were called to Cabarita Beach, following reports surfers had located a man’s body in the water.
Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District attended and found three members of the public attempting to revive a male swimmer.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Tweed Valley Hospital where he later died.
The man is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 50s.
Police have commenced an investigation into the incident, and a report will be prepared for the information of the NSW Coroner.
