Sydenham homicide appeal for information

Homicide Squad detectives are appealing for information from the public in the hope it will assist their investigation into the death of Vicki Ramadan who was found murdered in her Sydenham home.

The 77-year-old woman’s body was discovered by a neighbour inside her Marlborough Way home on Sunday 6 April about 9.45am.

It’s believed she was brutally assaulted in her home.

At this stage it is unclear when Vicki was murdered however detectives believe she was last seen on Monday 1 April about 9.45am walking on Gourlay Road in Melton toward the Melton Highway.

Vicki was often seen walking to locations and was known to use public transport, in particular buses and taxis. It was also not uncommon for Vicki to frequent the Watergardens shopping centre and it’s believed she was well known by local traders.

Homicide Squad Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper said the road would have been very busy at this time and someone may have dashcam vision.

“We’re appealing for anyone with information to come forward or anyone who was passing this area in Melton to check their dashcam footage,” D/Insp Stamper said.

“It would be too far for Vicki to walk from Gourlay Road to her home so we have to ask how did she get home?

“What we are also interested in is if anyone can provide details of any suspicious activity in and or around Vicki’s Marlborough Way home and if anyone has seen Vicki since this last sighting until when her body was found nearly a week later.”

Investigators are trawling through CCTV vision in the hope of identifying where Vicki may have been and to shed light on her movements on or about the time when she was last seen.

“There are many questions still to be answered with this investigation, including a possible motive, so it’s crucial we hear from the public. We’d like to provide the family with answers and find the person who has brutally taken Vicki’s life,” he said.

Detectives have released another image of Vicki in the hope it will assist in someone coming forward.
