As noted by Premier Mark McGowan:

“Holding the ICC Men’s and Women’s T20 World Cup events is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Perth and our State to a global audience.

“The high calibre of sporting teams that will come to WA as part of this event will not only shine a light on our state-of-the-art stadium but will importantly attract visitors to WA, which will boost our economy – creating jobs and benefiting local businesses.”

As noted by Tourism Minister Paul Papalia:

“Cricket is a much-loved sport around the world, with the ICC T20 World Cup to be broadcast in a number of Tourism WA’s key tourism markets including the United Kingdom, which is WA’s largest international market for visitor numbers, and India, which is WA’s ninth largest international market for visitor numbers.

“Our plan to target these markets includes the London-Perth flights, which began last year, as well as working with the Indian airlines to establish direct flights and the appointment of a dedicated marketing representative in Mumbai.

“The T20 format is fun, fast-paced and exciting, creating a fantastic atmosphere for spectators and attracting and engaging a global audience.”

As noted by Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:

“The T20 World Cup will bring top cricket action and a festival atmosphere to Perth.

“Perth Stadium is the best place to watch sport in the country and the T20 World Cup will provide Western Australia with a terrific opportunity to showcase itself to the world.”
