Take action for nature at Whakahoro

The working bee aims to show the area some love as part of Conservation Week, which will be running from 14 to 20 August.

DOC Ranger Justin Rihia says people are encouraged to ‘take action for nature’ this Conservation Week.

“Whakahoro is a key gateway to the Whanganui National Park, and with some shared mahi we can make this site truly welcoming for visitors/manuhiri.”

An important destination on the Whanganui Journey Great Walk, Whakahoro wildlife is flourishing thanks to predator control by DOC and neighbours.

“We are really keen to connect with local whānau, too – we want to hear about the community’s aspirations and see how we can provide support to achieve those goals.

“We are privileged to care for this precious whenua and look forward to seeing you Tuesday 15 August 10am-2pm.”

Kai will be provided, and Victor rat traps will be available to take home as well.
