‘Taking it to streets’ vaccination campaign for school holidays

  • School holidays events to focus on vaccinations for children five to 11-years-old
  • Perth Zoo and Kings Park get behind vaccination initiative
  • Local attractions to have pop-up clinics during the school holidays
  • Extended days and opening hours for regional vaccination clinics
  • The McGowan Government has partnered with some of the biggest holiday attractions for kids to bring COVID-19 vaccination clinics to our youngest Western Australians during the school holidays.

The ‘taking it to the streets’ vaccination campaign will include attractions such as Perth Zoo, who will run three days of pop-up clinics, where every child vaccinated there receives a free entry pass to the zoo.

Other locations include the May Drive Parkland playground in Kings Park, Bibra Lake, Whiteman Park, the Mundaring Sculpture Park, Lake Leschenaultia and other locations in Wanneroo, Rockingham, Mandurah and Yanchep.

The Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre COVID-19 vaccination clinic will have a focus on children throughout the school holidays, with visits from Captain Starlight and the ever-loveable therapy dogs. While Clown Doctors will visit the Claremont vaccination clinic.

Community vaccination clinics will also continue to provide children’s vaccinations throughout the school holidays, with appointments available on
    VaccinateWA, however walk-ins are welcome.

Regional children will also have greater access to their community clinics with extended opening times and days, as well as mobile clinics travelling to the districts.

We urge all parents and carers to take advantage of these opportunities to protect and safeguard children and families against COVID-19.

There are also vaccination opportunities provided by GPs, Aboriginal Medical Services and pharmacies across the State. Visit the
Roll up for WA website for details.

As stated by Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:

“We know vaccination is the best defence against COVID-19 in protecting Western Australians from serious illness or hospitalisation.

“These school holidays, we have partnered with some fantastic attractions to bring a fun and different approach to vaccination.

“I urge all parents and carers to take advantage of these opportunities to protect our children and families against COVID-19 during the holidays.”

As stated by Environment Minister Reece Whitby:

“Perth Zoo is one of WA’s most beloved attractions and I am so pleased we are able to offer children who get vaccinated at the zoo pop-up clinic this school holidays a free entry pass to visit the zoo.”

“Vaccination is so important in protecting young people from COVID-19 and what could possibly be better reward for ‘rolling up’ than a day out at the zoo, or alternatively, check out one of the other great locations such as Kings Park.”

As stated by Vaccine Commander and Deputy Police Commissioner Gary Dreibergs:

“By ‘taking it to the streets’ and going to places where parents and children will be these holidays, we are hoping people will take advantage of the convenient access to vaccinations for their children.

“Our regional community clinics will be providing more opportunities and greater access for children with extended opening times and days, as well as mobile clinics travelling to the districts.”
