Tamworth 2022 Top Tourism Town finalist

The public is now invited to vote for their favourite tourism town, with Tamworth today announced in the top 30 from across New South Wales.

Tamworth Region Councillor Judy Coates said she is excited to see Tamworth named as a finalist in the NSW Tourism Industry Council’s “Top Tourism Town greater than 5000 residents” category against some of the State’s bigger cities such as Newcastle.

“The past couple of years have been challenging, so seeing Tamworth named as a finalist is a testament to the community and business collaboration in our region,” she said.

“Tamworth has a lot to offer with cultural attractions, special places and experiences, and being named a finalist is wonderful recognition for the region, and we should all be very proud.”

NSW Tourism Industry Council announced their finalist selection this morning for three categories: those with populations over 5,000 residents, those under 5,000 residents and tiny towns with a population under 1,500 residents.

NSW Tourism Industry Council Executive Manager, Greg Binskin said: “The NSW Top Tourism Awards provide communities, business chambers, visitor centres and local governments the chance to show how their town encourages tourism development, increases visitation and drives the visitor economy for our state.”

“Regional towns are critical to achieving the State’s ambitions as a visitor destination.”

The public have from now until 5pm on Wednesday 27 April, 2022 to cast their vote by visiting www.businessnsw.com/top-tourism-town-awards-2022. The winners will be announced at the Local Government NSW Destination & Visitor Economy Conference, 17-19 May 2022.
