Tanunda Cricket Club Awarded SACA’s Facility Of Year

Barossa Council

We are thrilled to announce that Tanunda Cricket Club, in partnership with The Barossa Council, has been awarded South Australia Cricket Association’s Cricket Facility of the Year.

This prestigious award, presented at the SACA Community Cricket Awards Breakfast held at the Adelaide Oval, recognises the redevelopment of Tanunda Recreation Park, including new clubroom and changerooms, junior oval and cricket pitch, oval lighting and renewal and practice net facility.

Mayor Bim Lange was thrilled with the win.

“Like cricket itself, delivering this facility has been all about partnerships, which has included State Government funding, our joint MOU with SACA and Cricket Australia, and a strong relationship with Tanunda Cricket Club and the Barossa and Light Cricket Association,”

“Overall our Council has invested more than $11 million to develop a venue that rivals any other regional facility in the State. Just as important, this redevelopment ensures our community can keep participating in grassroots sport, which is what local cricket is all about.

“I especially commend Tanunda Cricket Club and volunteers who have been at the table since this project began and play a critical role keeping community sport accessible and sustainable.”

Mayor Lange invited the community to attend the official opening of the Tanunda clubrooms, changerooms and oval on Friday, 22 March at 5pm.

“This is a great opportunity for people to celebrate this win, see this new development for themselves and watch our junior cricket, football, netball and tennis players in action on the oval and courts,” he said.
