Task force Prime and Veritas arrests

Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Branch and the Public Protection Branch within Crime Service have today arrested three adults and charged them with manslaughter of three young children. The charges arise from three separate set of circumstances. None of the three accused or victims are connected.

Task Force Prime detectives investigating the July 2022 death of 6-year-old Charlie Nowland arrested a 47-year-old Munno Para woman. She was charged with manslaughter in relation to the death of Charlie. The woman was further charged with criminal neglect in relation to four other children (aged between 8 and 14) who had been living in the same house.

Also under the auspices of Task Force Prime, detectives investigating the February 2022 death of 7 year old Makai Wanganeen today arrested a 50-year-old Craigmore man for the manslaughter of Makai.

Task Force Veritas detectives (led by Public Protection Branch) investigating the October 2018 death of 15 year old Jasmine Wilmott today arrested a 54-year-old woman from Flagstaff Hill. She was charged with the manslaughter of Jasmine. The woman was further charged with other criminal offences arising from the same set of circumstances.

All three people arrested will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today. These investigations are now before the courts, therefore no further comment can be made.
