Taskforce Falcon detectives have charged the alleged driver following an investigation into a public place shooting in Punchbowl last week.
About 2.20pm on Saturday 6 June 2026, police were called to a venue on the corner of Punchbowl Road and Canterbury Road, Punchbowl, following reports of a public place shooting.
Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended and found that several shots had been fired into a venue by an unknown SUV before it drove from the scene. No injuries were reported.
A short time later, police were called to Gillian Place, Punchbowl, following reports of a fire.
Officers attended and found that an abandoned car was well alight.
Fire and Rescue NSW arrived and extinguished the blaze; however, the car sustained significant damage.
Local police established crime scenes at both locations, before the matter was handed to State Crime Command’s Taskforce Falcon under Strike Force Cadek.
The alleged gunman – a 17-year-old boy, and a 23-year-old man were charged earlier this week and remain before the courts.
Following extensive inquiries, about 1.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 10 June 2026) strike force detectives – with assistance of Raptor Squad – executed a search warrant in Airds.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was charged with fire firearm at dwelling organised criminal activity, damage property by fire/explosive, take & drive conveyance taken without consent of owner and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Thursday 11 June 2026).
