Teacher in court charged with possess child abuse material, NSW

A teacher from a private school on Sydney’s North Shore is due to appear in court today charged with possessing child abuse material.

Detectives from Kuring Gai Police Area Command were called to the school yesterday afternoon (Monday 5 August 2019), after a large number of child abuse images were found on a mobile phone left at an aquatic centre in Wahroonga.

Following inquiries, a 30-year-old man – who is a teacher at the school – was arrested and taken to Hornsby Police Station.

A search warrant was executed at the man’s home where a number of electronic devices were seized for further examination.

Police will also allege substances, believed to be Ice and GHB, were found when the man’s car was searched.

The man has now been charged with possession of child abuse material, and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

He has been refused bail and will appear in Hornsby Local Court today (Tuesday 6 August 2019).
