About the team and what we offer

The Climate Change Authority is recruiting to fill a Team Leader Business Support Unit position at the EL1 level. The Business Support Unit Team Leader will lead a team to manage the operations on behalf of the Chair and the Authority Board Members, the Chief Executive Officer and the Senior Executive through provision of logistical support for Authority Board meetings and stakeholder engagements, coordination of briefings and other papers (e.g. for Senate Estimates) and other activities to support organisational operations and performance. The role also provides internal project management and general administrative support to the project teams carrying out the Authority’s functions.

What you will do

The successful applicant will:

  • Inspire and motivate the Business Support Unit team, provide direction and manage performance.
  • Guide and support Executive Assistants to the Authority’s Senior Executive.
  • Understand the Authority’s objectives and navigate the interaction of business areas within the Authority and with other agencies.
  • Engage with risk and show personal courage. Demonstrate self-awareness and commitment to personal development. Demonstrate public service professionalism and probity.
  • Confidently present messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner. Listen, seek understanding, and adapt to audiences.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide secretariat duties for the fortnightly Executive Board and Project Board meetings, including coordinating and distributing meeting papers and drafting meeting minutes.
  • Provide internal project management and general administrative support to the project teams carrying out the Authority’s functions.
  • Manage and respond to queries and requests received on behalf of the Chair and Authority Board members, seeking guidance where required.
  • Provide appropriate management of confidential and sensitive information.

Eligibility and security clearance

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the Authority, applicants must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or going to be granted Australian Citizenship before commencement. You may be asked to provide evidence of this.
  • Undertake a pre-employment security assessment and subsequent security clearance. All staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance however some roles will require a higher level security clearance. If you are offered a role and do not have a current security clearance, the Authority will work with you to arrange for this to be undertaken.
  • Be medically fit to undertake the duties of the job.

These positions require a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

The Authority offers Individual Flexibility Arrangements where appropriate to ensure competitive salaries compared with similar roles elsewhere in the APS. The Authority is based in Canberra.
