Teen assaulted in Watsonia

Banyule Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 23-year-old man after a teenage boy was allegedly assaulted in an unprovoked attack outside the Watsonia Railway Station this morning.

It is alleged a 15-year-old boy was near the footbridge about 8.30am when an unknown man punched him in the face.

A passer-by intervened and the offender fled the scene.

The victim, from Doreen, was taken to hospital with a broken nose.

A Reservoir man was arrested today and charged with intentionally cause injury and recklessly cause injury.

He has been remanded to appear at Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
