Teen charged after pursuit, firearm seized – South Granville

A teenager will face court tomorrow following a pursuit and firearm seized in Sydney’s west earlier this week.

Just after 9.45pm on Monday (29 December 2025), officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked on Mona Street, South Granville.

As police drove towards the vehicle allegedly drove off and when it failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through to Rawson Road, Guildford, before the vehicle crashed into a fence and onto a golf course, where it came to a stop and a number of occupants ran from the vehicle.

With assistance from PolAir, the Dog Squad and Traffic and Highway Patrol, officers arrested a 17-year-old boy in bushland nearby.

The boy was initially taken to Parramatta Police Station, before being taken to hospital for treatment.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident commenced.

During a search of the vehicle, police located a loaded firearm and jerry cans.

Police will allege the vehicles number plates were cloned.

About 1.30pm on Thursday 1 January 2026, the boy was taken to Castle Hill Police Station where he was charged with

– Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm,

– Participate criminal group contribute criminal activity,

– Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and

– Shoot at with intent to murder (attempted).

He was refused bail to appear before a childrens court tomorrow (Friday 2 January 2026).

An investigation into the incident continues.
