A teenage boy has been charged following an aggravated break and enter at Orange overnight.
About 1.15am on Thursday 16 April 2026, the occupant of a house in Bathurst Road, Orange disturbed a male dressed in black who was armed with a knife inside his house. The intruder demanded keys to his car. The man refused to hand over the keys and the intruder left with a porcelain bowl.
Police were advised and attended a short time later.
While officers from Central West Police District were patrolling nearby McLachlan Street, they saw a male dressed in black who was allegedly armed with a knife. When police went to speak with the male, he refused to comply with police demands to drop the knife and ran off, jumping a fence.
A short time later police found the male in East Orange Creek, where he was arrested.
A search of the male allegedly located a knife and other items that had been allegedly stolen from the earlier break and enter at the house in Bathurst Road.
The 16-year-old boy was taken to Orange Police Station where he was charged with four offences – robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon, aggravated break and enter – commit serious indictable offence while armed, hinder or resist police officer in execution of duty and breach of bail.
The boy was refused bail to appear in a childrens court today (Thursday 16 April 2026).
