Teen charged following investigation into break-ins – Gunnedah

A teen will face court following an investigation into two break and enters and stolen cars in the state’s north.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District have been conducting inquiries into two alleged break-ins, an alleged break-in and stolen car on Baxter Street, Gunnedah in March 2023, and the alleged break-in and stolen car on Lincoln Street, Gunnedah, in September 2023.

Following inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home in Gunnedah on Thursday 12 October 2023 and seized a mobile phone.

About 11.25am yesterday (Monday 30 October 2023), a 17-year-old boy attended Gunnedah Police Station where he was arrested.

He was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.

The teen appeared at a children’s court yesterday (Monday 31 October 2023), where he will re-appear at another children’s court on (Tuesday 31 October 2023).

Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime committed predominately by young offenders. Inquiries are continuing.
