Teen impound after hoon meet

Police are investigating a hoon gathering in Derrimut overnight (20 June).

Police were called to Fitzgerald Street shortly before 11pm to a large gathering of vehicles.

All vehicles dispersed upon police direction.

Police, who remained in the area conducting proactive patrols, observed three motorbikes believed to be linked to the event.

All three riders allegedly fled from officers; one was arrested nearby a short time later.

The 16-year-old year-old motorbike rider from Craigieburn has been charged with two counts of evade police, two counts of unlicensed driving, two counts of unregistered vehicle and drive manner dangerous and his bike was impounded

He has been bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

Police were then called to Boundary Road about 2am where 100 people were gathered.

A number of people attempted to damage a police vehicle during the incident.

The crowd were again dispersed, and no-one was injured.
