A girl has died after a single-vehicle crash on the state’s south coast overnight.
About 9.40pm (Saturday 20 September 2026), emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, Boydtown, about 8km south of Eden, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to South Coast Police District arrived to find a Toyota Landcruiser had collided with a kangaroo on the road causing it roll down a nearby embankment.
A backseat passenger – a 14-year-old girl – died at the scene.
The driver – a 20-year-old man – was trapped in the car and freed by emergency services before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a serious condition.
Two other passengers – a 19-year-old man and 22-year-old woman – were assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics with only the woman taken to Bega Hospital for further treatment.
Police have established a crime scene and an investigation into the cause of the crash has commenced.
A report will be prepared for the information of the NSW Coroner.
