A teenager has faced court, charged following an alleged aggravated robbery with wounding in the state’s north last week.
About 8.30pm on Tuesday 15 September 2026, officers attached to New England Police District were called to a park on Warialda Street, Moree, following reports a woman had been assaulted.
Police arrived and found a woman with a knife wound to her hand.
NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed the woman before she was taken to Moree Hospital.
A crime scene was established and police commenced inquiries into the incident.
Police were told the woman – aged in her 40s – had been sitting in an SUV when several young people – at least one of which were allegedly armed with a knife – allegedly opened a car door and demanded her car keys.
The group allegedly dragged the woman from her vehicle, during which time the woman suffered the laceration, before she fled on foot. One young person allegedly chased the woman, grabbing her shoulder, before passers-by intervened to render assistance.
The group allegedly fled the scene through the park towards Alice Street.
The woman’s mobile phone was reported missing.
Following extensive inquiries, about 9am yesterday (Thursday 24 September 2026), police arrested a 15-year-old boy in Moree.
He was taken to Moree Police Station where he was charged with aggravated robbery with wounding/grievous bodily harm.
The teen was refused bail and appeared before a children’s court yesterday (Thursday 24 September 2026).
