A teenager will face court today, charged following an alleged break and enter in the state’s Orana region last week.
Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District commenced an investigation on Friday 18 September 2026, following reports of an aggravated break and enter at a unit on Birch Avenue, Dubbo, about 12.45am the same day.
Police were told a group of young people – including a 14-year-old boy allegedly armed with a knife – had allegedly stolen money from a vehicle parked at the residence, before allegedly cutting a flyscreen and attempting to open a window to the unit.
The resident – a woman in her 40s – confronted the group – before they allegedly threw an object from inside the home, causing damage.
The group allegedly fled the scene; no injuries were reported.
Following inquiries, about 3.45pm yesterday (Thursday 24 September 2026), police executed a search warrant at a home in Dubbo, where they arrested a 14-year-old boy.
Officers also seized several items related to the investigation, including a knife.
The teen was taken to Dubbo Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company intend steal less than or equal to $60,000, and larceny.
He was refused bail to face a children’s court today (Friday 25 September 2026).
