Teenager charged with property offences, NSW

A teenager has been charged with alleged property offences following a spate of break-ins in the Murray River region last week.

Officers from Murray River Police District commenced an investigation following a series of break and enter offences at Albury last Friday (23 July 2021).

Officers were told that a metal detector was stolen from a vehicle on Hakea Place at West Albury about 2.20am, before a home on Affleck Street was broken into and alcohol stolen a short time later.

In a third incident, a wallet, cash and sunglasses were stolen from a vehicle parked on Read Place.

Following inquiries, two boys – aged 14 and 15 – were arrested on Sylvania Street at North Albury, just after 3pm yesterday (Tuesday 27 July) following a short foot pursuit.

The teenagers were taken to Albury Police Station, where the older boy was charged with two counts of larceny, aggravated break and enter dwelling in company intend steal, and steal property in dwelling/house.

He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Wednesday 28 July 2021).

The younger boy was released pending further inquiries.
