The Tasmanian Government is building an even better health system, with 10 new graduate paramedics welcomed to Ambulance Tasmania.
Six graduates will be based in the South, two in the North, and two in the North West, with all set to receive on-the-road mentoring and support as they transition into their roles following a six-week induction program.
These new graduates follow the recruitment of an additional 54 qualified and graduate paramedics earlier this year.
Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said delivering a growing healthcare workforce is a key part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
“The graduates are mid-way through their six-week induction program, which provides hands-on training and mentorship to ensure they are well-prepared and supported to deliver emergency care in the community,” Minister Archer said.
“After completing the program next month, they will be deployed across the State where they will join frontline teams and begin providing vital care for Tasmanians when and where they need it.
“I warmly welcome these newest members of the Tasmanian health workforce and wish them all the best in their future careers helping Tasmanians in need.”
Minister Archer also released the Tasmanian Government’s fourth 100 Days of Delivery.
“We have delivered 425 initiatives across health, cost of living, housing and building Tasmania’s future,” Minister Archer said.
“For Tasmanians, that means GPs are now diagnosing ADHD, free meningococcal B vaccines for babies, IVF rebates, midwives being trained here in Tasmania and so much more.
“We have also taken strong action on cost of living by supporting Tasmanians to stay active through Ticket to Play and Ticket to Wellbeing, free angling licences for 14 to 17 year olds, and cheaper power bills for Tasmanians on fixed incomes living in aged care facilities.
“We are delivering on our plan for Tasmania, including building an even better health system.”
Ambulance Tasmania continues to recruit additional graduates and qualified paramedics to strengthen the service.
Applications closed last month for the 2027 graduate paramedic intake, and we look forward to welcoming more new paramedics in the months ahead.
