3 September 2026
Tourism Minister launches the Best Kept Season campaign for 2026/27, encouraging Australians to visit during the Territory’s off-peak tourist season.
Last year, the Best Kept Season initiative added $49 million to the Territory’s visitor economy, reaching 54.9 million people. This year, Territorians can win one of two $2,500 travel vouchers by sharing their best kept travel secret.
Finocchiaro CLP Government is lengthening the Territory’s tourism season as we grow our visitor economy and support local jobs and businesses.
The secret is out: the Territory’s best kept season is back, as the Finocchiaro CLP Government launches its second off-peak tourism campaign.
Called, ‘The Territory’s Best Kept Season, for so many reasons’, the campaign is already reaching Australian travellers, and this year, Territorians are invited to share their best kept Territory tourism secrets.
Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Marie-Clare Boothby, said the campaign was about giving visitors even more reasons to visit the Territory.
“The Territory is absolutely one-of-a-kind, with our ancient natural landscapes, warm hospitality, local events, and authentic experiences. We are leveraging that unique tourism offering to extend our peak tourist season like never before,” Minister Boothby said.
“Our first Best Kept Season campaign reached nearly 55 million people, with that interest leading to $49 million invested into the economy.
“No one knows the Territory better than Territorians, which is why, this year, we’re inviting you to tell Australia what makes the Territory a must-visit destination.”
Territorians are invited to share, in 25 words or less, their hidden gem, favourite event, local top tip, or simply the reason they love the Territory during the off-peak season. All eligible entries go in the draw to win one of two $2,500 travel vouchers, in partnership with Tourism Central Australia and Tourism Top End. The competition runs from 1 September to 18 October 2026.
Minister Boothby concluded: “In our year of growth, certainty, and security, we are committed to growing our visitor economy by lengthening and strengthening our tourism offering, all year-round.”
