City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer has used National Volunteer Week to pay special tribute to Council’s 800-plus volunteers, many of whom continue to support the delivery of essential services during the current pandemic.
This year’s celebration, which runs until 24 May, is an important opportunity for communities to recognise the generous contributions of volunteers.
“During this uncertain time, we believe it is especially important to acknowledge our volunteers and the contributions they make to our City and community,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer said.
“We are privileged to have more than 800 volunteers who work across several Council departments including Bushcare, Park Committees, Community Care, Cultural Heritage and Tourism, our Library Services, and the Community Capacity Building Team.
“Our volunteers are vital to the success of Parramatta, with many Council programs and initiatives relying on assistance from local volunteers.
“On behalf of the City of Parramatta, I would like to thank our volunteers for donating their time, skills, and knowledge, which has helped make a positive difference to the lives of many.
“I would also like to recognise the Council staff who have volunteered to help Meals on Wheels continue to make food deliveries to our City’s most vulnerable residents throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The commitment and compassion that has been shown is very much appreciated.”
