More than 23,000 fans across HOYTS cinemas experienced one of the most significant celebrations in Australian music history, with THE SONGS OF JOHN FARNHAM: A LIVING LEGEND – THE CELEBRATION CONCERT successfully broadcast live from Rod Laver Arena to cinemas nationwide.
HOYTS exclusively partnered with show producers Cochrane Entertainment and TEG Dainty for the unprecedented Australian live cinema event, which saw extraordinary demand from audiences following the announcement of tickets.
HOYTS General Manager of Programming and Content, Michelle Gater, said the strong response reflected the enduring connection Australians have with John Farnham and his music.
“When the concert sold out so quickly, we were honoured to help extend this special celebration beyond Rod Laver Arena and give fans across Australia the opportunity to experience it together in cinemas,” Michelle said.
“Demand for the live broadcast was incredible, with sessions selling out rapidly, additional screenings were added to accommodate the response from fans.”
“Delivering a live broadcast simultaneously across cinemas nationally was a significant undertaking and required an enormous collaborative effort from everyone involved. It was incredibly special to see cinemas filled with John Farnham fans coming together to share in the celebration, and we’re very proud to have played a part in making that possible.”
Following the success of the live broadcast, the concert will return to HOYTS for an encore season. Audiences will have the opportunity to see a re-edited version of the event, created especially for the big screen, bringing the magic of the night back to cinemas nationwide.
