Third man charged as part of ongoing investigation into drug supply, NSW

Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad (RES) investigators have charged a third man as part of an ongoing investigation into the supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney.

In December 2019, officers from Wetherill Park RES established Strike Force Hama to investigate and target the supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney.

Last week, investigators arrested and charged two men, aged 35 and 65. They remain before the courts.

As part of ongoing investigations, Wetherill Park RES investigators arrested a 61-year-old man following a vehicle stop on Smart Street, Fairfield, about 2pm yesterday (Thursday 21 May 2020).

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers seized cocaine, about 63g of methylamphetamine (ice) and equipment consistent with the supply of prohibited drugs.

Investigators also seized more than $6000 cash located during a search of the man’s clothing.

The Burren Junction man was taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug (indictable quantity), deal with property proceeds of crime and possess prohibited drug.

Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the supply of prohibited drugs across NSW.

The man was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Friday 22 May 2020).

Investigations under Strike Force Hama are continuing.

Anyone with information about the supply of prohibited drugs is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
