A third man has been charged following an investigation into drug supply and rural crime offences in the state’s north-east.
Detectives from Oxley Police District and Oxley Rural Crime Prevention Team, with assistance from Gunnedah General Duties, established Strike Force Numboidard in August 2019 to investigate the supply of methylamphetamine, cannabis and MDMA in Gunnedah and surrounding townships.
Following extensive investigations, police executed warrants at two homes in Gunnedah and Werris Creek yesterday (Wednesday 11 December 2019).
It is alleged officers located 28 grams of methylamphetamine and a prohibited weapon at the Henry Street home at Werris Creek.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 30-year-old man at Tamworth Police Station at about 9.30am today (Thursday 12 December 2019).
He was charged with possess prescribed restricted substance, handle explosive/ precursor without authorising, possess or use prohibited weapon without permit, and supply prohibited drug – less than indictable quantity.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court tomorrow (Friday 13 December 2019).
The arrest comes after two men, aged 21 and 25, were arrested and taken to Gunnedah Police Station yesterday (Wednesday 11 December 2019).
They were charged with drug and rural crime-related offences and will appear before Tamworth Local Court today (Thursday 12 December 2019).
A 62-year-old Gunnedah man was also charged on 22 November 2019. The man was charged with drug-related offences after 460 grams of cannabis leaf, 87 grams of GBL and 77 testosterone tables were allegedly seized during a warrant in November. He remains before the courts.
Investigations continue.
