Three arrested as part of Echo Taskforce investigation into extortion

Detectives from the Echo Taskforce have today arrested three people connected to the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) as part of their investigation into the extortion of a Campbellfield business.

A 40-year-old Roxburgh Park man, who is a patched member of the Mongols, was arrested this morning with the assistance of the Special Operations Group on Mahoneys Road in Thomastown.

With further assistance from the VIPER Taskforce, warrants were then executed in Roxburgh Park and Mickleham, as well as the Mongols club house in Port Melbourne.

A 25-year-old Mickleham man was arrested at the Mickleham address.

Police also seized cash and steroids from the Roxburgh Park property and a Harley Davidson motorcycle from the Mickleham premises.

A 43-year-old Roxburgh Park man was arrested this afternoon in the Melbourne CBD.

The two Roxburgh Park men are being interviewed, while the Mickleham man has been released pending further enquiries.

The arrests follow an incident in October where the trio allegedly made demands for cash from the owner of a Campbellfield business.

Police will also allege a number of further threats were made over the following weeks, including an incident where a firearm was used and one where a vehicle was taken from the business address.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about OMCG activity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
