Three people have been charged after a man died in hospital following an alleged assault in the state’s north in April.
About 4.30am (Wednesday 8 April 2026), emergency services were called to a home on Bellevue Avenue, Bray Park, following reports of a man acting suspiciously.
Officers from Tweed/Byron Police Area Command attended and found a man suffering serious injuries after being detained by two males on the footpath.
The 34-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Gold Coast Hospital in a critical condition.
A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Raison.
A number of people were spoken to at the scene and assisting police with their inquiries.
Police were notified that the 34-year-old man died in hospital on Friday 10 April 2026.
Following inquiries, about 7.30am today (Thursday 2 July 2026), police arrested two men – aged 31 and 42 – and a woman – aged 43 – at Tweed Heads Police Station.
Both men were charged with manslaughter, while the woman was charged with hinder discovery of evidence – serious indictable offence.
All three were granted conditional bail to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday 27 July 2026.
Investigations under Strike Force Raison remain ongoing.
