Three people have been charged following a vehicle stop in the state’s Central Tablelands in which more than an estimated $9000 worth of suspected stolen goods were seized.
About 1.20am today (Friday 4 September 2026), officers attached to Chifley Police District stopped a sedan at the intersection of Lockyer and Andrew Streets, Bowenfels, south of Lithgow, for random breath testing.
The driver – a 34-year-old man – was subject to a roadside breath test which returned a negative result.
During a search of the vehicle, police located and seized a significant amount of personal identification cards, debit cards, new clothing, shoes, clothing accessories, mobile phone accessories, and a security-tag removing device.
The total value of the items – which police will allege are the proceeds of crime – is estimated to be over $9000.
Police arrested the 34-year-old man and his passengers – two women aged 43 and 31 – and took them to Lithgow Police Station.
The man and 31-year-old woman were each charged with recklessly deal with proceeds of crime greater than $5000, and goods in personal custody suspected stolen (not motor vehicle/vessel).
The older woman was charged with recklessly deal with proceeds of crime greater than $5000, and goods in personal custody suspected stolen (not motor vehicle/vessel) (two counts).
Each were granted strict conditional bail to face Lithgow Local Court on Thursday 15 October 2026.
