Three charged over alleged MDMA and cannabis trafficking in Melbourne’s southeast

Three men have been charged with trafficking drugs, after police seized more than $100,000 worth of MDMA and cannabis in Melbourne’s southeast.

The Prahran Divisional Response Unit intercepted a white Mitsubishi ASX Wagon on Kingston Street, Malvern East as part of a routine vehicle stop, just after 2am on Wednesday 2 April.

Police will allege there was a strong smell of cannabis, and during a search of the vehicle, police seized drugs from the vehicle.

Three men aged 21, 22 and 25 were arrested.

Following the vehicle stop, subsequent search warrants were executed at a hotel room in South Yarra, an apartment in Malvern East, and a home in Cranbourne East.

There, investigators uncovered a traffickable quantity of MDMA with an estimated potential street value of $60,000 and 2kg of cannabis with an estimated potential street value of $40,000, as well as quantities of cocaine, 1,4-Butanediol and cash.

Police also seized almost 30 blocks of magic mushroom chocolate with an unknown value.

A 21-year-old man from Cranbourne East, a 22-year-old from Hinchinbrook in NSW and a 25-year-old man of no permanent fixed address were charged with trafficking and possessing MDMA and cannabis.

All three were bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 5 June.
